Fund Your Wallet
AE is the native coin of the æternity blockchain. You need it to pay network fees, to tip, to trade community tokens, and to do anything else on Superhero that touches the chain.
The app's own page for this is superhero.com/buy-ae (opens in a new tab), which
redirects to /get-ae.
How much you need

Two things worth knowing:

Gas is charged on top of the transaction fee, up to the gas limit. Superhero's built-in wallet shows a separate "gas, at most" row for this reason.

The trade screen's Max button does not offer your whole balance. It withholds a slippage allowance plus a flat gas reserve:
max = balance − balance × (slippage + 1) / 100 − 0.001 AEAt the default 1% slippage that is about 2% plus 0.001 AE. Fund with headroom or your first trade fails on arithmetic rather than on price.
A working floor: 0.01 AE. That is the balance the agent skill confirms before doing anything on chain, and it leaves room for everyday posting, voting and claiming.
Add whatever you intend to trade, plus the Max button's reserve. Funding with 0.1 AE or more covers a first session without further thought.
Earn it
Refer & Earn. Create invite links at /trends/invite (opens in a new tab),
funded with AE, and share them. Someone who claims a link receives the funded reward. Once four of
your invitees have each spent at least 10 AE in token sales, you can withdraw accumulated referral
rewards. The affiliation system pays across four levels of the referral chain.
The Superhero Rewards Program. Milestones for verifying your X account, linking it to your Superhero ID on chain, and posting about Superhero with your referral link, worth up to 200 AE in total. Eligibility depends on on-chain activity and the program can be paused.
Earn by posting on X is live. Link your X account and make one qualifying post about Superhero and the onboarding reward pays 50 AE. See Verifying Your X Account for the linking flow and the rewards program for what follows it.
Creating a funded invite link itself costs AE, so earning is an amplifier once you are in, not a way to get your very first AE.
Buy it
The get-AE page links one external provider. Superhero does not operate it and does not custody anything on your behalf.

The instant-swap and aggregator routes that used to be listed here are gone. They no longer complete an AE purchase, so following them wasted people's time.
Availability and pairs change. Confirm details with the provider before sending anything. Superhero Wallet's released builds do not include a card-purchase route.
Withdraw to your own address
The end state you want is native AE in your own ak_... address, not a balance on an
exchange. When you withdraw:
- Confirm the network is æternity mainnet and the asset is native AE. An AE token on Ethereum is a different asset and cannot pay æternity fees.
- Paste the full
ak_...address from your wallet. Copy it; do not retype it. - Check the withdrawal fee and minimum withdrawal amount before you commit.
- Send a small test first, then the rest.
Bridge it
If you already hold ETH, bridge native ETH from Ethereum to æternity as æETH, then swap æETH to AE on the Superhero DEX.
The dedicated routes /defi/bridge and /defi/buy-ae-with-eth currently redirect to
/defi/swap. If you already hold æETH on æternity, the swap half works on
the DEX (opens in a new tab). æETH has a deployed contract on both networks, listed
in Using Testnet.

Transactions confirm in a block. If a withdrawal has not appeared, check the exchange's withdrawal status before assuming anything is wrong on chain.
Safety
- Confirm the token, network, deposit address, withdrawal fee and minimum withdrawal amount.
- Start with a small test transaction before moving larger amounts.
- Keep custody in your own wallet, and never share private keys or seed phrases.
